In Děčín I recommend visiting Děčín Zoo – it’s small but lovely, and don’t forget to also visit the Rajské ostrovy (Paradise Islands) exhibition, which is outside the zoo grounds. Your zoo ticket is valid there on the same day too. A short walk from the zoo, the Pastýřská stěna lookout is worth a visit, with a beautiful view of Děčín (the restaurant and lookout tower were under renovation in 2025). You can continue on to Děčín Castle with its large, beautifully kept park. For children they have prepared the “Little Explorer’s Trail”, which guides kids through the park with a map and tasks, and once they’ve solved them a small reward awaits at the castle ticket office.

Děčínský Sněžník

From the car park you head uphill via the Dresden viewpoint to the summit of the largest table mountain in the country, topped by the beautiful stone lookout tower Děčínský Sněžník. Tickets and the keys to the tower are available at the snack bar next to it. The way back follows the tarmac road with views down to the car park.

The route is also suitable for a pram, as most of it is on tarmac.

Dolský mlýn mill

The ruin of the Dolský mlýn mill, familiar from several Czech fairy-tale films, is definitely a place you’ll want to visit with kids. The pleasant walk along the little Jetřichovická Bělá river is suitable for a pram too, and at the mill the children can splash about below the weir on the Kamenice river.

Parking in Jetřichovice at the designated car parks costs 200 Kč for the whole day, and one ticket is valid at the other car parks in Jetřichovice as well.

Doubice Wooden Sculpture Park

In Doubice you can see more than 350 wooden sculptures depicting all sorts of fairy-tale and mythical characters. It’s ideal to combine the visit with lunch at the Stará hospoda restaurant.

Falkenštejn

Jetřichovice viewpoints

From the car park by the Jetřichovice sanatorium you head straight into the rocks, climbing up to the magnificent Marie’s viewpoint, and from there continue to Vilemína’s Wall and Rudolf’s Stone.

The walk is made all the more pleasant by the blueberries growing everywhere, so there’s no shortage of snacks.

From Rudolf’s Stone it’s all downhill back to Jetřichovice, where, looking up at the viewpoints you’ve just visited, there’s nothing left to do but congratulate yourselves on how high you climbed.

Kyjov Valley

Although the name suggests a place in Moravia, this rocky gorge is on the other side of the country.

A very nice walk. Kids will love climbing along the rocky paths, the ladders and the animal sculptures.

Pravčická brána

Pravčická brána is the symbol of Bohemian Switzerland, so it would be a shame to skip it during your visit.

If you don’t want to walk unnecessary kilometres along the road in Hřensko, I recommend parking in the car park in Mezní Louka and taking the bus with the kids from there to the Tři Prameny junction (stop Hřensko, Pravčická brána) or the Hřensko Express.

Then all that’s left is to head up to Pravčická brána – the path is pleasant and could be done with a sportier pushchair, but the viewpoints above Pravčická brána are definitely not pushchair territory.

Růženka

A beautiful modern lookout tower called Růženka on Pastevní vrch hill near the village of Růžová.

At first glance it looks a bit alien, but on closer inspection you’ll find that Růženka (Little Rose) didn’t get its name by chance – “wires” for climbing roses are stretched across the entire tower, and they are growing slowly but surely; in a few years Růženka will be here in all her beauty.

Tisá Rocks

The roughly 5-kilometre loop through the Tisá rocks is definitely worth it – you can enjoy the views, the rock formations and the climbers. If you set off early, I recommend parking in the car park by the Tisá tourist hut (Turistická chata Tisá). The car park holds about 20 cars and is free. At the end of the loop your reward will be lunch at the Tisá tourist hut.

Ústí nad Labem Zoo

Parking at the lower entrance in the small car park is, in my opinion, nearly impossible, so there’s nothing for it but to drive up to the upper car park, which is considerably bigger, and start the tour from the top so that you can warm up properly on the way back to the car.

A small zoo, but one with its own charm and certain species you might not come across in big zoos, such as seals, sun bears or sloths. Besides that, there’s a lovely walkway through the lemur enclosure.

Viewpoints around Česká Kamenice

You can park the car by the swimming pool or on the town square.

A gentle climb brings you to the first stop, the Mlýnky Brand miniature park. It consists of replicas of buildings from Česká Kamenice set out along a little brook.

In front of the miniature park there is a children’s water playground, where every child will spend at least 30 minutes, and a pond with a hand-operated ferry.

Vlčí hora

A hike up to a summit with a lookout tower. The volcanic rocks that make up the hill are full of magnetite, so don’t use a compass here 😎.

Parking is right next to the playground, and at the end you can visit the home of the natural cosmetics maker Nobilis. Besides a little shop and a café, there is also a beautiful garden with attractions for kids.
