The chateau, surrounded by water, is interesting for children mainly because of its park, where they can pet fallow deer and spot peacocks.

Rozpuklá skála

At the edge of the forest there’s a fairly large area where you can park the car.

A relaxed walk along a forest road which, apart from the detour to the rocks and the spring, can be done even with a (regular) pushchair.

It’s only a short way from the road to Rozpuklá skála itself, but I recommend walking up the little hill too and climbing to the rock blocks on the ridge. With care you can also squeeze through the crevice or scramble around Rozpuklá skála. That makes it at least a bit more adventurous.

The route starts from Roželov Chateau, where prominent church dignitaries were once imprisoned. You can park right next to it, or just after turning off the main road, from where it’s further to walk, but there’s a playground there.

On the way to the summit you pass the Třemšín Well, which has a legend about a treasure attached to it – and there’s also a cleverly hidden treasure in the form of a geocache that’s easy to find.

Viewpoints above Rožmitál

This easy walk takes you to the memorial cairn of Jakub Jan Ryba (composer of the Czech Christmas Mass), who ended his life at this spot, and to nice viewpoints above Rožmitál pod Třemšínem.

Just be aware that the small car park can fill up early in season.
