Koukolova hora

Koukolova hora is one of my favourite places for a trip, especially in spring when the liverworts are in bloom. In the old quarry below the summit in particular, whole carpets of them come out. Kids who aren’t that much into admiring flowers will certainly enjoy crawling through the short caves.

The route is quite a steep climb at first, but after that it’s practically all downhill.

I recommend taking the train to get here.

A tip is to come at the time when the Czech Hiking Club (KČT) holds its event here. It’s called Farewell to Winter on Koukolova hora and usually takes place around 16 March. Kids can look forward to various tasks and roasting sausages over a fire.
