Eggalmbahn

The Eggalmbahn cable car is located in the village of Tux. Right next to it there is a large free car park and the information centre for the Tux area.

At the top station there is the AlmSpielerei water playground. A big draw for kids is floating rubber ducks down the water channels. The ducks can be bought in the nearby restaurant.

At the bottom station you can pick up a leaflet for the Eggalm Hiking Rally. After collecting at least three stamps at various spots in the Eggalm area and answering a few questions, you can pick up a nice reward at the bottom station of the cable car. We got stylish water bottles.

The first two stamps are easy. One is at the cable car, the other at the water playground. The remaining stamps are harder. The third one already takes some effort. Either climb to the summit of Grüblspitze, where the route mentioned above takes you. The other option is to walk down to the Lattenalm hut. Getting back to the top station of the cable car, however, means almost the same amount of climbing as going to the summit.

The ascent to Grüblspitze is demanding for kids because of the big elevation gain, so it is better suited to older ones. It is not suitable for pushchairs.
